Job Description and Requirements
The "Farm & Forest School Teacher" will
Work closely with the Farm & Forest School Director to prepare and execute lessons, including but not limited to fine/gross motor skills, practical life skills, cultural skills, math, English literacy, nature studies, and science.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of early childhood development, including positive behavior techniques, and understanding of developing literacy and math skills.
Exhibit a working knowledge of the scientific process and scientific inquiry and a love for the natural world!
Understand that this program is a "all weather" program, meaning that teachers work out in rain, snow, cold, and hot weather conditions!
Participate in a six hour, paid inservice related to the Farm & Forest School's methodology, nature-based play, and first aid/weather related incidents (and more!). The inservice date will be agreed upon before hiring. Upon being hired, if the teacher fails to complete the inservice by the beginning of the first term (August 25, 2025), the teacher will be released from employment.
Work the school calendar as posted during the hours of 8:00-12:30 or 8:00-3:30 (8:00-9:00 will be a paid planning and prep time)
Notify the Farm Camp Director at least four hours in advance in the event that the Teacher is unable to work.
Farm & Forest School Teachers can also choose to bring their child (ages 3-6 or 7-10) with them for a reduced tuition as a student in Forest School, provided that all application and enrollment fees are paid and the child(ren) are accepted into the program.
Pay is $20-24/hour based on experience and education
