FAQ's about Oakview Farm Camp
How is Farm Camp different than a traditional camp?
Children who come to our farm camp will get hands-on experiences on a variety of topics related to sustainable farming practices. Topics will include: small animal care and handling; planting and harvesting; plant identification; and, much more! Children will also have time throughout the day to explore their own interests, such as: playing games in the forest; making mud pies or boats that float down our seasonal creek; and, learning teamwork skills on our low ropes course (just for few examples!).
What should children bring?

Closed toed shoes

Flip-flops or shower shoes if campers want to get wet!

Jeans, long-sleeved shirts, and sweaters are not appropriate attire for Summer weather. Please dress accordingly!
Can children bring their electronic devices?
In order to stay "in the moment" at the farm, participants will not be allowed to use portable electronic devices (including airpods) during classes, free play, or before/aftercare activities. If parents/guardians need to reach their child/young adult, they will be given the director's phone number to use as needed.
What do we do if it storms?
We are a "rain or shine" farm. If the weather does not pose a safety hazard (light rain with no lightning, for example), participants will be reminded to dress accordingly for the weather. If it thunderstorms, we will move into one of our secure farm buildings until the weather passes. We will notify you via email or phone if farm camp must be cancelled due to inclement weather. If this occurs, no refunds will be given, but will offer a make up day!
What do I do if my child is sick?
Please let us know immediately if your child has a fever, shortness of breath, or has vomited in the last 24 hours. If a child misses a class due to illness, we will work with you to find a solution so they can continue their experience another time! In order to obtain a refund on deposits, you must notify us at least one week before your child's class session starts, or show proof of a positive COVID test.
