FAQ's about Farm Forest School
Forest School Guiding Principles
Our primary focus at Oakview Farm Forest School is to allow children the space to explore the natural world, in order to promote connections, build compassion, and promote creativity.

What should children bring?
-
Closed toed shoes
-
Flip-flops or shower shoes if campers want to get wet!
-
Refillable water bottle OR bottled water
-
Extra change of clothes (just in case)
-
Sunscreen
-
Bug Spray
-
Lunch (we will provide snacks)
-
Jeans, long-sleeved shirts, and sweaters are not appropriate attire for Summer weather. Please dress accordingly!
Why can't adults and children have electronic devices at Forest School?
A key aspect of Forest School is appreciating the "ordinary" aspects of the natural world. At Forest School, we use all of our available senses to explore and discover nature and all of its wonderful offerings. Electronic devices distract us from being able to use our senses in a meaningful way that promotes connectedness to the natural world and to others.

What do we do if it storms?
We are a "rain or shine" farm. If the weather does not pose a safety hazard (light rain with no lightning, for example), participants will be reminded to dress accordingly for the weather. If it thunderstorms, we will move into one of our secure farm buildings until the weather passes. We will notify you via email or phone if farm camp must be cancelled due to inclement weather. If this occurs, no refunds will be given, but will offer a make up day!
What do I do if my child is sick?
Please let us know immediately if your child has a fever, shortness of breath, or has vomited in the last 24 hours. If a child misses a class due to illness, we will work with you to find a solution so they can continue their experience another time! In order to obtain a refund on deposits, you must notify us at least one week before your child's class session starts, or show proof of a positive COVID test.
