Job Description and Requirements
The "Farm Camp Teacher" will
Work closely with the Farm Camp Director to prepare and enact lessons, including but not limited to math, English literacy, nature studies, and science.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of childhood development, including understanding of developing gross/fine motor, cognitive, language, literacy and math skills.
Exhibit a working knowledge of the scientific process and scientific inquiry
Participate in a mandatory, paid inservice related to the Farm Camp's methodology, animal care, nature-based play, and first aid/weather related incidents. This training will take place the week of May 26-30, the date and time to be announced.
Teachers may be hired for individual weeks or for the entire camp session (June 2-27)
If hired for the entire camp session (June 2-27), the teacher will work the following days/times:
June 2-6 8:00 AM= 3:00 (1 hour paid lunch break)- 7 hrs day/ 35 hrs/wk
June 9-13 8:00 AM= 3:00 (1 hour paid lunch break)- 7 hrs day/ 35 hrs/wk
June 16-20 7:30 AM= 12:30 PM (1/2 hour paid lunch break)- 5 hrs day/ 25 hrs/wk
June 23-27 7::30 AM= 12:30 PM (1/2 hour paid lunch break)-5 hrs day/ 25 hrs/wk
Total hours over four weeks: 120 hours
Pay will be given at the end of the camp session, June 27th, for the total amount of hours worked (120) minus any sick leave taken.
Notify the Farm Camp Director as soon as possible in the event that sick time would need to be taken. The Farm Camp Teacher can use up to 10 hours of unpaid sick time during the course of the Farm Camp
Farm Camp Teachers can also bring their children (ages 3-10) with them for a reduced amount as participants at camp. Teachers' children must apply and be accepted into the program in order to attend. Teachers' children older than age 10 may be allowed to volunteer, given an in person volunteer interview and volunteer training, and at the Camp Director's discretion.

Oakview Farm Camp is a nature-based outdoor-only Summer Farm camp for ages four through twelve. This is our fifth year of operation, proudly serving children and their families in the Middle Tennessee area. Our mission is to instill a sense of awe and wonder in children for the natural world, through hands-on experiences related to small-scale, sustainable farming.
